Solution to Issue Six’s poser: Ne cherche pas.

When I put out a request for a transcription of the lyrics to Zouzou’s song Ne cherche pas, I’m afraid all my twittos francophones decided to take French leave! All but one, that is. French photographer Gianfranco Zanin (@omaha60) stepped up to the plate and kindly sent me the following:

By way of a thank you I’d like to dedicate a song to Gianfranco. I’ve chosen Encarnita Polo’s 1963 ballad La Balada del Amanecer. I wanted a female singer from the sixties, but why this particular song? Two reasons:
1 I think there’s a good chance he (and you, for that matter) may not have heard it before and it’s always nice to hear new things;
2 It’s gorgeous.
